In Search of Love

My nights are long and lonely
Sleep keeps on passing me by,
My mind is filled with wonder
And I really know not why ...

So many thoughts surround me
What has my life become,
Where is it that I'm headed
Why me, the lonely one?

I can't go on much longer
Without someone by my side,
This loneliness and sorrow
I can no longer hide ....

Only I can be the master
Of my fate in life,
Will it be filled with love and warmth
Or filled with grief and strife?

Will happiness surround me
As once it used to do,
Will I find love and understanding
As I was hoping to?

How I long for love
Though time is passing me by,
If only he had loved more
And I wouldn't have said good-bye.

But much too late I realized
That our love was not to be,
I couldn't be the things he dreamed
I had to be - just me.

I need someone to love me
I need someone to care,
My heart is bursting at the seams
With all this love to share!

I need some gentle words
Need understanding, too,
I need someone to love me
Someone to love me true.

To accept me as I am
An independent soul,
Longing for the comfort
Of arms to have and hold ...

This time I need the love
Spilling in from every shore,
This time I need the love
This time I need it more!

I gave my everything
In each romance I shared,
I was the one who loved
I was the one who cared ...

If ever love should find me
And I get another chance,
I want to be the one
Who's caught up in the dance ...

I want to be loved more
And treasured just for me,
I want to be the special one
I know that I can be ...

My heart is filled with sunshine
My dreams are filled with hope,
My being is filled with so much love
Sometimes it's hard to cope ...

I dream of love unending
Of sitting by a fire,
I dream of love that's patient
Filled with much desire ...

A love that lasts forever
Until the end of time,
I want the love to blossom
As poets tend to rhyme ...

Someday my dream may be answered
If that's how it's meant to be,
I'm hoping that I'm given that chance
And love will come to me ...
