Distant Memories

Though years have passed somehow
And memories linger on,
Thoughts of my deepest love
Somehow will never be gone ...

He filled my heart with love
As only he could do,
A treasure to have and to hold
A love so grand and so true ...

His warm breath upon my ear
As he held me in his arms,
Enchanted by his kiss
Enthralled by his loving charms ...

No greater love have I known
Than this tender loving man,
Who gave me his ring of gold
To wear on my left hand ...

The hours would swiftly go by
As we held each other so close,
And the night would be filled with a love
That would be the precious envy of most ...

A passion we shared as lovers
No one has ever known,
But the seeds which we had planted
Would forever go unsown ...

What happened I have not the slightest clue,
But something came between us
Which changed skies to gray from blue ...

We had plans for a wonderful wedding
To be held at the end of that year,
But the pieces somehow crumbled
I can still feel the sting of each tear ...

What I thought God brought together
In time just fell apart,
But the love of my life lives forever
In the corner of my broken heart!
