THE NEW YORK PI
© By: Sandy Showalter -
08/99
On this foggy, chilled, New York
night
Strides the sleek, debonair
Private Eye,
As he peers at all within his
sight
There's nothing that passes him
by.
His eyes are shifting as he
stalks his prey
Like an animal in the wild,
Anything in his path moves out
of the way
Mystified and greatly beguiled!
He's on a case; there's not a
doubt
And he somehow knows each clue,
How silent is he, no sound, no
shout
Is he coming after YOU?
The moon is bright on this
cloudless night
As he continues on his stroll,
You wonder, as you shiver with
fright
What will be his goal?
A man with a mission, a job to
do
The evidence is quite clear,
Your heart starts pounding as
he approaches you
He's getting exceedingly near!
Suddenly! You feel his grasp
As he urgently passes you by,
The tug on your sleeve, you're
all aghast
In the silence, you let out a
cry.
The secret no longer hidden
This man has moved in for the
kill,
For years it seems you've been
driven
As you sauntered up this hill!
But he solved the mystery
you've been hiding
All these long and pain-filled
years,
No more secrets, no confiding
His actions proved all your
worst fears.
The body you walled in the
basement
Was now but a pile of old bones,
But this clever PI was
determined
As he removed the grout and the
stones.
The wife you no longer loved
Was hidden there all these
years,
But this master picked and
shoved
Until he uncovered your once
precious dear!
Oh, how clever you thought you
were
As you carefully lived your
life,
But this stranger who had once
loved her
Was determined to bring you
strife!
You hadn't a clue of their
infatuation
Of the love they once had
shared,
You only wanted gratification
Because you no longer cared.
But when his once precious love
was taken
Before his steel blue eyes,
His heart was broken and shaken
Knowing death must be your
demise.
Slowly, he entered your being
He carefully set his goals,
And through his planning and
scheming
The story now has been told.
The love of his life was taken
Never more would their bodies
entwine,
When you buried her, visibly
shaken
But today marks the end of your
time!
For no task is too large for
this sleuth
No case ever goes unsolved,
'Tis been his dream since his
youth
That each case will be resolved!
The End
